Copyright & Usage: You retain all copyright to your work. All fiction will appear in the e-mail newsletter Pulp Stories Monthly upon acceptance. Pulp Empire and Metahuman Press reserve the right to post any serialized fiction on the official site (http://www.metahumanpress.com/pulp) for as long as the serial runs. Stories can remain up on the site at the writer’s request. Content: Pulp Empire looks for any stories that can be classified as adventure, pulp, neo-pulp, or hard boiled, whether they be crime, fantasy, sci-fi, western or even romance. We do not however accept any fan work based on any pre-established characters (so don’t send us your cool new Doc Savage, Shadow, or Spider stories.) The genre is wide open, but the pulp style must at least be moderately retained. That doesn't mean your story needs to be a period piece. Check out many of the Hard Case Crime novels, the comic book Fear Agent, or just read a few issues of Pulp Stories Monthly to see how pulp techniques can transfer in to modern storytelling. Length: Short stories can be anywhere between 300-5,000 words in length. Preferably, they will come in at about 2,000-3,000 as anything longer becomes cumbersome in an e-mail format. Anything longer than 5,000 words is unacceptable as a single story, but we will look at it if you are willing to re-work it as a serial.
Serials can be up to 24 chapters in length and can range from 500 to 2,500 words per chapter. Anything longer or shorter will be come cumbersome. Anyone interested in submitting a serial should submit the first two chapters and a summary of the rest of the story in order to be taken in to consideration.
How to Submit: All submissions will be accepted only by e-mail to pulpsubmit@metahumanpress.com
Only three formats are acceptable:
Serial submissions sent by the cut and paste should be seperated over multiple e-mails. Please allow up to 60 days for a response. If you don't receive a response in 60 days, please query at the same e-mail address.
